To engage the ethnic minority (EM) girls and women into the running community in Hong Kong, for the building of social inclusion and resilience among our cultural differences.

Running Program for Women Empowerment

The program is organised and managed by Sports Event Planner Limited and funded by SIE Fund (The Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund). SIE fund, a catalyst for social innovation in Hong Kong, connect our community with different sectors, to create social impact through innovative solutions that address poverty and social exclusion

Sports Event Planner Limited is the organiser of the ladies only hiking event, Rebel Queen (ladies only hiking event), Salomon Running Academy (training for trail running), Desserts Run (gimmick fun run).

WHAT IS "LADIES RUN"

What is Ladies Run?

Problem: because of some cultural and religious reasons, females with ethnic minority (EM) background doing exercise in public is a taboo and they are also easily being neglected and excluded from the local community.

Solution for the ethnic minority:

To improve the situation, we are organising the first distance-running program engaging EM females in Hong Kong.

Benefits:

(a) the EM female would feel more included in and connected to the local community through running activities

(b) to show to the community that EM females are also valuable individuals as all we are.

Solution for social inclusion:

Besides EM females, local females would also be recruited for the program. Throughout the program, gathering and sharing sessions will be encouraged among the EM and local participants. They would be encouraged to interact with and support each other, in order to achieve the goal, i.e. to be able to run 5km and to understand each other’s culture.
